Maybelline Superstay 10 hour stain gloss Review

I recently purchased this for about $4 at my local CVS. This was 50% off. In fall when I was at a CVS I saw one of these open. (Hate when people open drugstore products!) Anyways, I swatched it and was underwhelmed by the stain gloss. While the color was nice, there was no "gloss" and the stain disappeared in 10 minutes. That was a turnoff. However after that i became curious. So, I conviced myself to buy it when it was 50% off.

Now, I actually like this product on my lips. While it isnt as long lastin as I preferred the stain will stay for about 3 or so hours (not through a meal however) which is actually average for me since stains blend with my lip color often! The gloss factor however disappears in about 15 minutes. I think if Maybelline just marketed this as a stain, not a "gloss" of somesort people would have different expectations.

The Applicator on this is amazing (see picture). It is an angled sponge that soaks color beutifuuly. The product apllies almost cool and refreshing.

Now, my problem! I don't know if I got a faulty tube, but this product dispenses 10 times the product I need. Really, when I frist opened the product i lost a ton because I wasn't prepared and some spilled out. Now I have to keep napkins on hand. Even though it is a manageable problem, I dislike it a lot. I will definitely check whether this is just my luck or it is all of them.

I got the color Mauve Dream. This is a mauve tha leans red depnding on how much you build the color up. Because of how much product I get, this usually end up a subdued red on me. I like the color but I think it is more suitable for fall than summer. The shade range of this product is quite broad, though I would like more summery shades.

Would I repurchase? Yes, maybe not for full price, but I would consider repurchasing. Whether I repurchase or not, I need to figure out that packagin mishap!

Pros:
This is a basic stain that will work well for summer. The colors are flattering and the applicator is amazing.

Cons:
Don't be expecting a day long wear, since wear is average. Also, the gloss part of this fades in minutes.

This product is a draw for me. I'm just on the verge of "liking" it. I do recommend giving iit a try to see if you like it but don't have high expectations!

CVS beauty clearance haul first impressions Part 1

So yesterday and the day before I had a CVS haul. I went to 3 local CVS's and boy am I happy with the results! One of the CVS's I hadn't been to and turns out it's the biggest and best for beauty in the area. Today I will be showing pics of my haul and write some first impressions. Reviews upcoming!

Mayblline LE Color Tattoo for Summer 2013- Seashore Frosts

AHH my baby. No seriously I had given up hope of finding this. After I saw swatches @nouveaucheap I knew I was in love. However after countless times of searching I couldn't find this. Now when I went to the CVS i had never been too, i saw a display with the color tattoos, eyeliners, and color whispers. When I saw this I snatched it and didnt look back. I didn't even take pictures of the display:( I ran to the register lol!

This is a beautiful duochrome. It's semi opaque and the color is so unique! The formula withstands a ton but I've heard it isnt as long wearing as the original formula.

Maybelline Master Drama Cream Eyeliner- Sapphire Strength

I own quite a few of these eyeliners and they are HG. I would have stocked up even more since they were 50% off at CVS, but i was on a self-inflicted budget:( Creamy, long wearing and pigmented, I reach for these everyday!

Almay new Liquid Lip Balm- Apricot Pucker

I wasn't sure what to expect with these but I like them. I feel that they are great for summer. They aren't sticky or melty like a gloss but they have a high shine with meduim pigmentation. They are nicely mousturizing like a dailywear balm, but not deep hydration. After some time, they almost feel like a lip butter since they hug the lips with moisture. I think these are a yay this summer!

Covergirl new lipslicks smoochies- #sweet tweet
Now I never tried the regular lipslicks but I heard these are similar. Even though the nature luxe balms were 50% off, the uber cute packaging and the "newness" got to me and I purchased this instead. Packaging= adorable! However, while sweet tweet's color looks a perfect for summer peachy pink in the tube it is sheer when swatched. Wahh! However I have seen swatches of darker shades and those are semi sheer to semi opaque. I feel like fans of maybelline baby lips should try this. I personally think these are a more comfortable, and a bit more shiny and moisturzing than Baby Lips, but still quite similar. Also good for summer since they give shine without stickyness. These are going to be used by me but I don't love them.

Revlon Lip Butter- Cherry Tart
For $2- Score! Revlon Lip Butters are extremely popular. Moisturizing, Pigmented, with a slight sheen and great color range. Enough said :)

Rimmel Stay Glossy Lip gloss- Black Diva
I have wanted to try this black gloss and for $1 after discount I am pretty impressed. This isn't sheer at all, but if you want to make a lip look more vampy this is the gloss for that. So far this formula is quite comfy on the lips. Not super tacky, but more of a "normal" heavier gloss formula. SInce it is pigmented and heavier it does last a pretty long time.

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation
I got this for $2.50!! This foundation gives sheer to light coverage, but satisfies all my needs. It feels weightless and doesnt clog pores, which are top of my list for liquid foundations especially. So far this doesn't look like it will be HG but instead a nice foundation good for "no makeup" makeup days!

Part 2 of first impressions coming up tomorrow!

Maybellline Super Stay 24 hr lip color review: Swatches to come!

AMAZING! is one word to describe! When I swatched this on my hand it lasted days on me! On my lips it lasted about 10 hours! Believe me if something lasts 10 hours on me double it and that's how long it wil stay on you! Seriously, nothing stays on me...
Anways, I got this is Always Heather, a purple- mauve with beautiful gold shimmer. I fell in love with this color, I especially love purple- mauves. This is two sided with the color on one end and conditioning balm on th other. You are supposed to apply the color and then you wait for it to dry and apply the balm. Even though the balm is good, i wish they would cut it out and just give more color. I say this becuase I have tried may other sheer lip glosses or lip balms over it and they are just as conditioning and don't affect the wear or color at all! Some examples are Bobbi Brown High shimmer lip gloss, MAC dazzleglass, and Buxom Big and Healthy Lip polish.
I wish they gave us more color because every time I use it I get scared about how much I have left, because the balm takes up half the space! But ohter than that, I have NO complaints about this products whatsoever! I highly recommend this to those of you looking for a great lip stain!

Essie Stylenomics Fall 2012 Collection Review

Essie Stylenomics Fall 2012 Collection

One thing I love about Essie's seasonal collections is that the colors are timeless while always staying true to their theme. Take a look!

Stylenomics. A dark teal creme. This is slightly greener than your average teal. Zoya Evvie is more faded and gray. OPI Ski Teal we drop is bluer. Nicole by OPI Khloe Had A Little Lam-Lam is very, very similar and they are potential dupes, but I don't have the Nicole to compare with.

Skirting the Issue. A dark, berry/red creme. This one is  a lot redder in real life than it looks in the picture :) .  To give you an idea of the real color, it's a dupe of Color Club Style Icon. OPI I'm Suzi and I'm a Chocoholic is slightly more brown.

Recessionista. A dark berry/purple color. This one is also different in the picture, its a lot darker, more reddish-purple. It looks exactly like China Glaze Purr-fect Plum. Zoya Toni is more purple and faded.

Miss Fancy Pants. A creamy greige with a hint of mauve. Essie Glamour Purse is less beige, more grey, so is OPI Berlin There Done That. Zoya Jana is similar, but more purple-toned and lighter.

Head Mistress. Now, you have to see this in real life to truly appreciate this. It's a bold, fiery, cherry red creme. To give you a picture of the color, think of China Glaze Hey Sailor! I love it, but I could name about a dozen dupes for this...

Don't sweater it. A soft, putty grey creme with a tan undertone. Less pink than the picture, though it does have some mauve undertones. Almost identical to OPI Berlin There Done That.

The Big Picture:
Pros: All of the formulas are great. They flow well, they're opaque, and dry super-glossy. Very appropriate for fall! Lovely colors, most of them are universally flattering.
Cons: The colors in this collection were way too dupe-able for my liking!

Skin Tone Suggestions:

Stylenomics: This would best flatter someone with cool or neutral undertones, especially an olive complexion.
Skirting the issue: This would be universally flattering undertone-wise, but it would look especially good on a tan to a dark complexion.
Recessionista: I think this one would flatter everyone!
Miss Fancy Pants: Also universally flattering!
Head Mistress: Careful with this one. If you have strong cool or green undertones, this may not be the one for you.
Don't Sweater It: Universally flattering.

Thanks for reading!
