Essie Newest Collection: Yogaga

Essie's newest collection is Yogaga, inspired by zen yoga! Personally, the only color that really stood out was Spinning again(red). The rest seemed a little... done! We've seen many Essie taupes, baby blue, and baby pinks before! Here are pictures and descriptions of this collection!

Pricing and Availibility:
$8.50 per bottle, availible at essie.com or local drugstores in the US.
Boxer Shorts. A pale blue, similar  but a little darker and more purple than Essie Bikini Bottom.

gym dandy. a dark taupe-brown. Similar to Essie Mink Muffs.

Marathin. A cotton candy pink. Similar to Essie Petal Pink and Essie My Private Cabana.

pilates hottie. A very light, baby lilac. Similar, but more neutral than Essie French Affair.

spinning again. A dark, bright red. Close to OPI Deutsche You Want me Baby but less a bit redder and less bright.

Yogaga. A light taupe. Similar to Essie Topless and Barefoot.

From Right to Left: Spinning Again, Boxer Shorts, Gym Dandy, Marathin, Pilates Hottie, and Yogaga.

The Big Picture:
Pros: This collection is great for day-to-day activity, with just enough color to be visible, but(excluding Spinning Again), not enough to catch many heads!
Cons: I feel like we've seen this collection before, It's not special to me like the Essie fall 2012 collection(see last post Mirror Metallics!) It reminds me quite a bit of their Bikini So Teeny Collection.

Essie Fall 2012 Collection: Mirror Metallics

Penny Talk, Cover Photo for the collection
Essie's Fall Collection is called Mirror Metallics. These are metallic/chromes and I absolutely love them! It sticks to Essie's style, classic and sophisticated! Here are the colors and and what they look like! Most of these colors aren't dupes, but Good as Gold is a close cousin to many, because it is a classic gold. No Place like Chrome has a few cousins too, like  OPI Lucertaintly Look Marvelous, but those have much more sparkle, while this is more metallic. This reminds me a lot of the China Glaze Khrome collection from fall/winter 2009.

Price and Availability:
about $8.50 per nail polish availible at essie.com and local drugstores in the US

The names of the products are:
No Place like Chrome: rich nickel color
Blue Rhapsody: light metal blue
Nothing Else Metals: pale lilac metallic
Penny Talk: my personal favorite, copper
Good as Gold: classic gold metallic

from left to right: No Place like Chrome, Blue Rhapsody, Nothing Else Metals, Penny Talk, Good as Gold.

The Big Picture:
Pros: This is a great different collection for fall, it doesn't have the dark browns and oranges, but it still represents. The colors are striking, and different from the other chrome finished colors we've been seeing lately.
Cons: If you like bold, bright colors, this may not be your collection. Also, we have been seeing a lot of collections with chrome and metallic finishes lately- I would have liked to see a different finish!

Beautiful chrome finishes, and great formula! Good job, Essie.

5 High End Beauty Products Worth Buying

Ever indulged yourself in a pricey high end beauty product only to find that the quality was less than perfect? This time, you won't have to regret buying a high end item. Here are 5 products that will have great quality and give you value for your money.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette.
This palette is $50, which seems like a high price. But you get an amazing value for this- the eyeshadows alone would cost you $204, and if you add the brush and mini lip gloss, you get $234 worth of product for $50! I suggest the Naked 2 palette instead of the original Naked. Even though the quality of the shadows on the original palette are a *little* better, the eyeshadows on Naked 2 will work for people who have cool and warm toned skin, whereas the original Naked had mainly warm tones. You really can't go wrong with Urban Decay eye makeup, though, and the neutrals are really flattering!
available at sephora.com and in sephora stores

Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Luster.
This isn't really too pricey at $24, but I feel like I should include this, because it's absolutely amazing. It gives your lips a nice flush of color and a shine, it applies extremely smoothly, and it's really, really moisturizing for your lips. It makes my lips soft and has a light, pleasant minty odor. It's a really great lip product, and stays on for a good amount of time. This is one of my favorite Tarte products. Totally worth buying!
available at sephora.com and in sephora stores

Bobbi Brown Everything Mascara. This mascara does a really good job with... everything! It doesn't flake, in fact it makes pretty, soft eyelashes. This isn't a very dramatic mascara, but it lengthens, volumizes, and does a very nice job. This mascara is $24.
available at sephora.com and in sephora stores

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream. If you don't own a BB cream, this one is definitely worth checking out. It blends really easily, offers good coverage, and it has SPF 35. It comes in 5 different skin tones. The BB cream costs $39, which may seem like a lot- but if you look at the quality of the product, it totally justifies the price.
available at sephora.com and sephora stores

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner. This eyeliner has a really nice applicator. The tip is really precise and the eyeliner applies very easily. It's waterproof, too. I chose this eyeliner instead of the simlilar Stila and Nars ones because Make Up For Ever's come in a big variety of fun colors. This eyeliner is $23.

I hope you guys found this helpful with purchasing high end beauty products!

Upcoming OPI collections for 2012!

You might have already heard about the So So Skullicious halloween mini set for this year. It's inspired by Dia de los Muertos, a Mexican holiday celebrated to honor people's loved ones who passed away. As usual, the Halloween set consists of 4 mini OPI nail polishes and some cute nail decals. This year's decals feature some colorful skulls.

I am extremely, super excited about OPI's holiday collection this year. It has a really cool theme-wait for it, wait for it- James Bond! This collection celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Bond. The polishes look super amazing. OPI posted this picture on their facebook page. I'm really looking forward to this one!

The collection also comes with this limited edition 18 karat gold topcoat. It looks really pretty. This picture was also on their facebook page. I don't know what the pricing point will be for this, but I have the Sephora by OPI one which costs $30, so I'm guessing it will be around that. I love the packaging on this, and the inner hoarder in me is thinking of buying this one!

Color Trend: Two Great Transitional Colors for Fall! Part 2

Part 2 of this post is going to talk about some great purple beauty products to try out. I especially love a smoky purple on the eyes and nails for fall time! Here we go:

PURPLE

Lip Products to try:
Not many people wear purple on their lips on a regular basis. Actually, I wasn't a fan of purple on my lips until Megz showed me this purple Mac lip gloss from their Evil Queens collection. It's discontinued now, but the purple gloss looked really pretty and surprisingly wearable!

Mac Lipglass in Pop Mode. A beautiful plum with a bronze shimmer. I think this is the closest to the lip gloss Megz was wearing!
$15, maccosmetics.com

Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lip Gloss in Midnight Violet. A dark, shimmery plum.
$23, sephora.com

Mac Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Quite the Thing. A blue-toned plum purple lipstick.
$16, maccosmetics.com

Mac Lip Pencil in Magenta. Now this is bright! It would be great for a night out if you want to go super bold. It's a purply-pink lip color. This takes guts to pull off.
$15, maccosmetics.com

Eye products to try out:

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Velvet Plum. A deep, smoky plum. This is the perfect eyeshadow for a smoky-eye.
$24, sephora.com

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Psychedelic Sister. This is a beautiful, vivid jewel-toned purple. For an edgy look or a night out, apply this generously to the center of your lids and blend black shadow into your outer corners and crease. For extra edge, try a cat-eye shape!
$18, sephora.com

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in 1999. When Megz and I tried this on at Sephora, we fell head over heels for this color. It's a gorgeous, sparkly plum.
$19, sephora.com

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Shadow Pencil in Morphine. Guys, this is one bright purple. All there is to it!
$20, sephora.com

Urban Decay 24/7 Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Metalhead. If you're feeling bold, go for it! It's a really nice way to add some shimmer to your makeup.
$18, sephora.com

Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash in 6. Yes, a purple mascara. Again, if you're feeling bold, try this out! It looks really cool and adds a pop of color to your eye makeup.
$23, sephora.com

Hope you liked these two transitional colors!

Color Trend- Two Great Transitional Colors for Fall 2012! Part 1

I know, I know, it's smack in the middle of summer, but I am super excited for all the great fall collections coming out! But before you immediately start breaking out the burgundies and golds for fall, try rocking a transitional color first! This ensures you're not going from bright summer neons directly to the warm browns of fall. Two great transitional colors for this year are red and purple. These colors are wonderful because they're not shockingly bright, but they don't have to be rich, cozy colors either. They are also right on trend, especially the red! I'm going to divide this post up into 2 parts. This is part 1: the red.

RED

Lip products to try:

Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lip gloss in Black Ruby. This is a crimson, blood-red lip color. This gloss give your lips a pretty hint of shimmer.
$23, sephora.com

Mac Lipglass in Russian Red. This Lipglass is a bright, warm red that gives your lips a pop of color.  $15.00, maccosmetics.com

Mac Lipstick in Ruffian Red. This is a rich, blue-toned red lipstick.
$15.00, maccosmetics.com

Tarte Glamazon Lipstick in Fierce. This is a very bright red lipstick. If you want something more cool toned, also try this lipstick in Wild.
$26.00, sephora.com

Eye products to try:

Be careful with colors like red and pink on your eyes. If you don't wear them the right way, these colors can make your eyes look irritated. And especially don't use red on your waterline!

Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow in Red Copper 61. This is a gorgeous, shimmery maroon-copper eyeshadow, perfect for transitioning into fall.
$20, sephora.com

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner in 11 Diamond Burgundy. This is a shimmery burgundy liquid liner. This is a really pretty color, probably my favorite red eyeliner!
$23, sephora.com

Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in Burgundy 18L. If you're not a fan of liquid eyeliner, this is a very similar burgundy color in pencil form.
$18, sephora.com

Make Up For Ever Pure Pigments in No. 6. Now, this one is true red. If you want to wear this, it's great for a night out, but be careful! If you want to wear this during the day, try applying a little bit on the center of your lid, but blend it out with some brown eyeshadow to soften the look.
$20, sephora.com

Blushes to try:

Also be careful with blushes. You'll want to use a more burgundy leaning blush instead of a more peachy one, and not straight out red.

Mac Powder Blush in Fever. This is a nice, warm burgundy blush.
$20, maccomsmetics.com

Mac Powder Blush in Breezy. This is a burgundy-leaning-plum colored blush.
$20, maccosmetics.com

Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Rose. This is a more red/pink and less burgundy blush. Cream blushes are great because they can be moisturizing for your skin, and they're super easy to blend!
$25, sephora.com
